WHAT IS A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST?

Speech-Language Pathologists are trained specialists in the screening, assessment, and treatment of the following disorders: speech production, voice, resonance, fluency, feeding and swallowing, language (spoken and written), aural rehabilitation, cognition, and augmentative  and alternative communication.

Elective Services include accent modification and transgender communication. 

SLPs work with clients who may also be diagnosed with the following related diagnoses:

  • Developmental disorder

  • Specific Language Impairment

  • Autism

  • Dyslexia

  • Learning Disability

  • Neurodevelopmental Disorder

  • Attention-deficit disorder

  • Cranio-facial anomalies

  • Stroke (cerebrovascular accident)

  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI) 

  • Dementia

  • Parkinson’s Disease
